  • Brisbane City Council – UPS Replacement Project:

Commencing in May of 2015 BCC commissioned Strategic Directions to review the operational effectiveness of their Data Centre UPS systems.

Following multiple failures of the system with no conclusive reason as to why, BCC engaged Strategic Directions to qualify vendor reports, Council reports and UPS logs to provide options for remediation of the potential reoccurrence of the fault.  Following on from the remediation reports several options, BCC elected to replace the UPS systems and redesign the critical power path in both of their data centres.  Again, Council looked to Strategic Directions  for assistance in the design, implementation and project delivery of four (4) 200kVA UPS’s, two units at each site, delivered in a 2N solution.  Managing all UPS and electrical upgrades throughout two total data centre shutdowns over a period of 8 months, Strategic Directions, along with BCC facility staff, successfully implemented the new robust and resilient 2N UPS system now powering the two Brisbane City Council data centres.
