In May 2015 Brisbane City Council commissioned Strategic Directions to review the operational effectiveness of its Data Centre UPS systems to ensure stability and performance of its network. Council engaged Strategic Directions to review vendor reports, Council reports, and UPS logs to provide options for improvements. Following on from the reports which provided several options, Council elected to replace the UPS systems and redesign the critical power path in both of their data centres. Council again looked to Strategic Directions for assistance in the design, implementation and project delivery of four (4) 200kVA UPS’s, two units at each site, delivered in a 2N solution. Managing all UPS and electrical upgrades throughout two total data centre shutdowns over a period of 8 months, Strategic Directions, along with Council staff, successfully implemented the new robust and resilient 2N UPS system now powering the two Council data centres.
