What happens when your connection to the cloud is disrupted?
First, let’s define what it means to stick everything into the cloud, what is the cloud?
Gartner defines cloud computing as
“Cloud computing is a style of computing in which scalable and elastic IT-enabled capabilities are delivered as a service using Internet technologies…“
So when we reference the “cloud” we mean we are moving our IT and Intellectual Property to a third party providing a service.
To connect to the “cloud” we still need to have some local infrastructure. Therefore in light of our recent pandemic, it is imaginable that a scenario could exist that this connection to the cloud could be disrupted.

Can you still operate without the cloud?
What is your acceptable amount of time to be offline?
Do you have direct contact with your new service provider and what is their SLA (Service Level Agreement) in providing your new service?
Is all this acceptable to your business and does your Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans stack up to this new change?
