The Australian Data Centre Strategy Summit in March: Mike Andrea to Co-MC

Data Centre Strategic SUmmitMike Andrea, a Director of Strategic Directions will Co-MC the Facilities Track of The Australian Data Centre Strategic Summit on the Gold Coast in March of this year with Glenn Gore, Senior Manager for Amazon Web Services the MC of the IT Track, and Trevor Clarke Lead Analyst Tech Research Asia the overall events MC. This is the third time Mike has Co-MC’d the Facilities Track at the event.

The Australian Data Centre Strategic Summit held March 10-12th is an invitation only event, which harnesses the collective intelligence of Data Centre leaders. The agenda that includes; over 40 key notes, round tables, collaborative think-tanks, 1-1 meetings, exhibitions and workshops.

Over 200 thought leaders and C level executives from around the world will gather on the Gold Coast to discuss best practices for Data Centres and infrastructure services. Evaluating and discussing new Data Centres online and corporates moving services to the cloud, consolidating dating IT departments, increasing capacity and availability demands and building a plan for future technology.

Mike, who has been involved in the event for the past 3 years, will again act as Co-MC for the event, and will also participate in the round table discussions and 1:1 meetings.

MikeMike Andrea, Director – Strategic Directions

Director and Data Centre National Practice Manager for The Strategic Directions Group and has been the External CIO for Springfield Land Corporation since 2007. He is responsible for the ICT Master Plan for Greater Springfield, which won the 2010 World’s Best Master Planned Community at the FIABCI Prix D’Excellence Awards. Mr. Andrea led the design team on the $220M, 14,000-square meter, Tier 3+ Polaris Data Centre which opened in January 2009 in Springfield, Australia. He is now a member of the Polaris Joint Venture Board and has over 23 years’ experience in the ICT industry, covering strategy, design and management across commercial and government sectors. In 2010, Mr. Andrea was appointed to the Board of Directors of AFCOM’s Data Center Institute in the USA.

GlenGlenn Gore, Technology Solutions Manager – AWS

Glenn has a strong background in Internet services. Starting with OzEmail (Australia’s largest ISP) in mid 1990’s, purchased by UUNET in 1998 (World’s largest Internet backbone provider) then moved to WebCentral (Australia’s largest hosting provider), was Chief Technology Officer for Melbourne IT. Glenn is currently Senior Manager – Solution Architecture at Amazon Web Services, leading the Solution Architecture team across Asia Pacific. Glenn has a strong R&D background in internet technologies focusing on how innovation changes how we work and interact with each other.

TevTrevor Clarke, Lead Analyst – Tech Research Asia

A passionate and dynamic analyst, Trevor Clarke has over 15 years’ experience in the Asia Pacific region and specializes in Future Work Space and Data Centre research, advisory and consulting. He was most recently the lead analyst for IDC’s Asia Pacific Future Workspace research and ANZ infrastructure research team. Trevor is also a former editor of Computerworld and ARN. A Victorian by birth, Trevor now resides in Tokyo, Japan.
